I am looking to build a square patio with pavers, outlined by benches on 2 ends. What I would like to do is build a short pillar at each corner and use a cedar board as the seating surface (probably 2x12x12′). Looking to use pavers to create the pillar as well. This board would rest on the pillar but would still have an additional 2 pavers and a top cap.
I’m sure I will have to mortar, but how will that work with the wood? Should I seal the wood before? How large of a paver should I use for the pillars? Is a 12" board wide enough to sit on? Any other advice would be appreciated!
What have you found that is cute or goes good in your garden lately? I’m just curious about ideas, from various benches, patio sets, garden globe balls, stones, statues,etc.
